HP DeskJet 6540 Continuous Calibration
Trouble:
HP DeskJet 6540 fails to print the document sent from the computer and immediately performs a self print head calibration. During the calibration, the printer powers itself off for a few seconds and then back on after about 5 seconds. It immediately decides to re-calibrate again! This process is endless and wastes much ink and paper.
Solution from HP support technician:
Please follow the steps given below to reset the printer cycle (Hard reset):
Turn the printer on.
Raise the top cover of the printer.
Remove ink cartridges from printer. CAUTION: Before proceeding, ensure that the cartridge latches are placed in the 'lock' (down) position.
Power off the printer by pressing the power button.
Disconnect the power cord and the printer cable (USB or parallel) from the back of the printer.
Let the printer remain disconnected for at least 60 seconds.
Reconnect the power and printer cables.
Turn on the printer.
Reinstall the ink cartridges into printer and make sure they lock into position.
Close the top cover.
