Accessing file share on Linux from Windows

The Networking & Wireless forum on Ubuntu Forums listed an article, Default network password? by salthog that provided invaluable advice on running two simple commands to allow for a Windows based system to access a file share on a workstation running Ubuntu Linux.

Quoted indirectly from the article mentioned above:
In the Terminal Window enter
sudo smbpasswd -a youruser
sudo /etc/init.d/samba restart

I'm just glad I didn't have to dig around and mess with samba.conf or any of those other funky little files :)

search terms that lead me here:
set samba password ubuntu
can't connect to ubuntu samba share
