Steps for adding an existing PC to domain

When changing a PC from workgroup to domain, profile files and settings often get lost, migrated or scrambled. The following steps work for me when done properly.
  • Start .. Run .. type CMD and press [Enter]
  • type CD %temp% and press [Enter] (take note of profile folder name)
  • Open Computer Management and reset password for local Administrator user
  • Join PC to domain
  • Reboot
  • Log on as local Administrator
  • Open Computer Management and add domain user to local administrators group
  • Disable all local users except for Administrator
  • Log on as domain user (to establish profile settings)
  • Log on as Administrator and perform Profile Registry hack
  • Reboot
  • Log on as domain user to test (you should have access to previous desktop and documents)
If these steps don't work, you may need to Take Ownership of the profile files and folders. .. then log on as local administrator and correct profile folder path .. reboot and test again
