USB won't install correctly on Win98

HKLM\Enum\USB

this registry key might be good to know if your USB driver doesn't install properly. sometimes the information under this key needs to be removed so it can be 'found' again - as always, be sure and back up your registry before deleting it :)

there are many documents on how to modify this information. i just mentioned it because someone couldn't get a USB printer to install today. This is the first thing that popped into my head, but I wound up 'fixing' it by noticing there was a USB port under printer properties. I installed a Generic Text Only printer pointing to the USB port. Just for kicks, sent a test page and the darn thing came out perfect !! ..then installed HP driver software and pretended the printer was on LPT1. After install, switch to USB printer port and test just fine.
