IBM AS/400 Workstation Customizing Object
I swapped out a twinax terminal with a PC and ran into a world of hurt with the printer configuration. Normally, things go smoothly with general print jobs, but this particular printer is utilized to print wide reports for many people in the office.
Config: Printer is an Okidata ML 320 Turbo. PC is new Dell running Windows XP Pro. IBM Client Access with latest service packs loaded.
IBM and Okidata tech support are very friendly, but after two weeks, just didn't cut the mustard.
My good buddy and '400 guru helped me out with this scripting trickery: Set printer in IBM PPR mode. Load Okidata ML 320-IBM driver for printer. Set printer session to use Host Print Transform and configure Workstation Customizing Object on the AS/400. This process is fairly complicated, but the end result is a happy customer. A little dot matrix printer can now print wide reports in portrait mode.

Spoolsv.exe crashing on Windows XP Professional
Customer tried deleting a few old printers. System locked up and wouldn't show any printers. At the login screen,
spoolsv.exe crashes. After logging in, system acts strange and
Printers folder won't display anything. Tried running
SFC /Scannow , but system didn't recognize Dell's XP CD.
Made backup of drive at this point.
Boot to Safe Mode; insert Windows XP CD; perform in place Ugrade. Reboot a few times and system seems fine. Run system file checker with no problems.

Blogger Profile and Deleting Comments
I had posted a follow-up comment for one of my posts and noticed something strange. The "author" listed my first name (which i'd rather not use in this type of forum). I looked through the template for a way to mask this information. Then I thought I'd just see about changing the way my info is listed on Blogger. When I went in to look, a message stated that my profile is unavaliable and I'd have to fix it before proceding. I did this and when my name hadn't changed, republished the page with the comment. Not only did my "nickname" appear, but the elusive "trash can" mentioned in several help documents. This little trash icon hadn't been available to me. I have been able to locate where it should have appeared in order to remove a comment, but now that my profile is "active" the icon itself now is visible.
My original plan was to contact someone at blogger, but heck, my own little forum is a nice place to list this fix !
have a great day ~!
