BackupExec 9.1 Tape Drivers
After installing a new tape drive on an older server, I had trouble finding the tape driver update information for
Veritas BackupExec 9.1 Rev 4691 so I decided to list a few things here for future reference. Symantec now owns Backup Exec but their website is very difficult to navigate. The server needing the updates only brought up a blank screen when trying to access either Symantec or Veritas support websites.

Fonts display incorrectly in Internet Explorer
Customer had trouble printing a certain report from a program called "Factor". Turns out, the program generated a web page and called Internet Explorer for viewing and printing the report. Unfortunately, IE wouldn't print the information all on one page. Even with
condensed checked, the report always spilled over onto a second page.
I immediately noticed the trouble was related to Internet Explorer after seeing how my website tool bars and such weren't displayed correctly, but I had quite the time locating the magic checkboxes to correct the issue.
It would make sense to have these options in Control Panel under Accessibility settings, but instead, they're under Internet Options and then Accessibility!
Thanks to the good folks at
Penn State for the tip (and the images) !

My suspicion is that these automatic updates caused the customer a service call. It appears that they automatically downloaded, installed and rebooted the computer. Unfortunately for the customer, after the reboot he could not get online any longer.
Thanks to the good folks at HTCC for their Comprehensive List of Recommended Service Settings for Windows XP , the services have been set as per the "Recommended Settings" and all is well again.
