Event 13568 and JRNL_WRAP_ERROR
Windows Server 2000 with SBS in effect. Discover the following information and placed here for easy access:
Microsoft's FRS: Using the BurFlags Registry Key to Reinitialize File Replication Service Replica Sets has the following instructions that work quite well (and fast).
To perform a non-authoritative restore, stop the FRS service,
configure the BurFlags registry key, and then restart the FRS
service. To do so:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type cmd and then press ENTER.
3. In the Command box, type net stop ntfrs.
4. Click Start, and then click Run.
5. In the Open box, type regedit and then press ENTER.
6. Locate the following subkey in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NtFrs\Parameters\Backup/Restore\Process at Startup
7. In the right pane, double-click BurFlags.
8. In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, type D2 and then click OK.
9. Quit Registry Editor, and then switch to the Command box.
10. In the Command box, type net start ntfrs.
11. Quit the Command box.
Good info about this error can be found here
This article mentions setting a registry key to allow for more data to be stored in this area of the file system.

HP TFT5600 RKM controls different than manual would have you believe
This sleek little KVM is pretty, but has a few annoying little quirks. First of all, this one was set to always show the display number. This is cute at first, but after getting a cramp from the crap-track ball moving windows all around so I can get to the selection hidden behind the display, I got quite angry. Luckily, the manual was easy to find on
HP's website . Unlucky for me, the controls weren't available as advertised.
Here we are a month and a half later and I just happened to tap Print Screen to grab a screen capture, and pow! the menu pops up!
All is well in KVM land.

Gmail Contacts list export workaround
I was looking for this feature, but came up with my own
export/workaround:
Open Contacts and select "All Contacts" view
Use mouse to select area on screen around names and addresses
Open Excel and paste
Resize columns to view more comfortably
Select only names and addresses
Edit .. Copy
Open a new worksheet (excel document)
Edit .. Paste
Save as CSV file
Answer "yes" to losing formatting because of CSV conversion
Open saved CSV file to view barebones names and addresses listing.
(yes a "save yer people" button would be much easier)

Word Perfect 8.0 on Windows XP Pro
Customer has a new Dell and loaded WP8 without thinking. Now she has vertical lines on her desktop and icons. Dell support says she
must have corrupted some system files with that older software and recommends downloading some drivers from the Dell website. I have remoted in to the system, but haven't had a chance to be there in person.. yet :)
.. i have located a few interesting items in looking for the solution
Corel's How To Use the Windows XP Program Compatibility Wizard
unavailable from the main Corel support site:
Word Perfect 8.0 Service Packs and documentation , but this helpful site pointed me in the right direction.

Stop error 0x50 MRXDAV.sys on WinXP Pro
Laptop blue screened and I was summoned to perform my mystical analysis. After taking down the codes, system booted just fine. I almost fell out of my seat when the little error reporting annoyance popped up
Solution Found: Contact Novell to obtain the update ! First time in how many years? Anyway, my Novell admin confirmed the laptop in question was running an older version of the client (4.90 without SP1). Upgraded to 4.91e and was finally able to map that network printer. (Last week, the laptop refused to attach to a certain Novell printer queue)
By the way, there was a system event 1003 for System Error
exact extended codes:
0x00000050 (0xFF455000, 0X00000000, 0XEF5ACEE5, 0X00000000)
( Windows XP Professional 0x0000050 0x50 )

Adware in Services on WinXP
The following files gave me quite a stir:
xhki\dkkjpb.exe
gncolf\kmoseokb.exe
vgsipc\wdfgr.exe
nbqyuloe\uxxca.exe
lcqe\sheprh.exe
yltlm\gwvxn.exe (and it's buddy in prefetch)
Solution is to boot into safe mode to disable services and delete all identified items. Remove network cable and boot normally, but log in as administrator (used in safe mode because the regular login is a domain user). Run
HiJack This! to clean system further. Go ahead with SpyBot to make sure. Then boot normally as regular user and clean once more. Finally, reconnect network and enjoy!

Classic Win98 installation trick
If you ever find yourself installing/reinstalling Windows 98, and receive the message
You already have an operating system installed rename the following four files and try again:
Win.com – user.exe – gdi.exe – kernel32.dll
Look in the Windows folder for all but one, it will be under system.
I know '98 is old, but this is info is requested from time to time.

FrontPage 2002 can't read HTML View
Couldn't read anything on the
HTML tab of FrontPage. The
Normal and
Preview tabs are fine. After much frustration, run across
this fix :
=== === === === === ===
Tools>Page Options>Default Font tab
There are 3 places to make settings - first is the language, which would likely need to be US/Western Europe. Then there are settings for proportional font and then fixed-width. The proportional will affect what you see in normal view, and the fixed-width in html view.
=== === === === === ===
I set both to Arial and then switched between Normal and HTML views to refresh and see the changes.
